Strawberry Fields

I mentioned in my post earlier this week that Katie and I went strawberry picking over the weekend! Since I, of course, documented the trip, I wanted to share some photos of the gorgeous fields of strawberries in Puyallup. Besides being a bit exhausting (so much squatting!), we had a blast, and ended up picking 10 pounds of berries between the two of us in about an hour!

I wish I could tell you about all the delicious things I made with my haul of berries, but truth be told, I just ate them by the handful, put them on waffles, and put the rest in the freezer to use at a later date. I'm going out of town tomorrow for my cousin's wedding, so I've been busy getting prepared for that. Alas, my dreams of mini strawberry angel food cakes will just have to wait!

Do you have any favorite recipes to make with strawberries?

XOXO

  1. Looks like a great time! I'm sure it was tiring with all that squatting, though. Now I'm in the mood for strawberries:)

  2. There is nothing quite like a freshly picked strawberry! They look fantastic ^_^ My favourite way to eat strawberries is with crunched up meringues and whipped fresh cream, we call it Eton Mess in England and it's handsome!

  3. I've been wanting to go strawberry picking, but with the total crazy schedule I'm not sure we are going to make it out to the local u-pick place. Loving all these photos.

  4. Wow! Those strawberries are soo big. I like the tiny wild strawberries, but the birds and critters usually steal all the ones my mom grows. Anytime she asks me to water her plants I usually go foraging as well, picking off ripe tomatoes and such to eat. For that reason she usually asks me not to water.

  5. That looks like a lovely way to spend the day. I love strawberries, I would have probably eaten them all before I had even got home.

  11. You've convinced me to get out in the fields before the summer is over! I wanted to last year but didn't make it for some reason. These photos are great, and I absolutely love that dress/belt combo, oh my goodness!

    1. It's at Pichas Farm. I think it was getting to the end of the season when we went, but I bet all the raspberry u-pick farms will be up and running soon. I really love Bolles Organic Berry Farm in Monroe for raspberries!
